Eliseo is an accomplished multi-media sculptor with extensive experience in private, commercial, and site-specific public art sculpture utilizing traditional natural stone, steel, and cast bronze creations. His project approach focuses on intensive research and open communications with design teams and committee members on defining the visions and goals of the project. His natural stone bas-relief wall murals, and three dimensional single or multiple piece stand-alone sculptures are valued for their visual impact, innovative free flowing designs, substance, and relevance to theme content.
Eliseo is a native of Dallas, TX, graduated from North Dallas High School, served in Viet Nam and obtained his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas. He began his career in the graphics and arts departments of the corporate arena, and at the age of 45 set out on his own to fulfill his life-long dream of being a sculptor.
He has expertise in both indoor and outdoor public art sculpture and has the professional capability to work in multiple styles, i.e. representational, abstract, and contemporary, using a variety of design and sculptural elements in creating his final art forms. He possesses a special ability to personalize specific narratives through his designs by using recognizable imagery and/or dramatic interplay of abstracted shapes, textures and lighting to make expressive symbolic references to thematic objectives.
Eliseo’s creations can be appreciated throughout the Dallas metroplex, both in public art as well as in various private collections, and extend internationally to Japan and the Virgin Islands. He has been awarded the Texas State Visual Artist Award 2009, North Dallas High School Distinguished Alumni Award 2015, the Dallas Historical Society AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN COMMUNITY SERVICE in the category of Creative Arts 2016, and presented a key to the City of Farmers Branch by Mayor Tim O’Hare. Mayor O’Hare declared that day “Eliseo Garcia Day.”
Eliseo shares his talents by demonstrating to various groups the art of sculpting and answering questions about being a sculptor and artist. He also teaches veterans painting and sculpture a method of therapy and healing.
StatementAt an early age I was always fascinated in discovering suggestive patterns, shapes, and figurative elements in nature’s palette of Art. I could always draw or make things pretty accurate but I enjoyed my artwork more when I used my imagination and exaggerated the subject matter in a more stylized, tactile, and expressive manner. In my college years, after my tour in Viet Nam, I fully appreciated my art history courses. Paleolithic cave art, Primitive, Medieval, Greek, Renaissance, and Meso-American art were inspirational in motivating me to become a full time artist.
Inspired by passion, vision and aspirations of my own personal and commissioned public art projects I give deep thought to the many possibilities of achieving objective artistic vision. Respect, honor, and relevance to thematic projects is foremost and always is my goal. My diverse artistic styles and subject matter give me the ability to work with various mediums. I am known for expressing a variety of narratives and genres by incorporating both recognizable imagery and abstract forms into a dramatic interplay of multiple shapes, implied movement, variety of textures, and lighting, adding a dimension of diversity to my works of art.
