West Side Art Trail Call for Entry

The City of Farmers Branch invites artists to participate in a juried outdoor sculpture exhibit to be installed on the West Side Art Trail in Farmers Branch, TX. Farmers Branch has a growing arts community and, with the newly formed Arts and Culture Committee, the City is dedicating time and resources to support local and national artists.

A total of three pieces, each by a different artist, will be selected.

Artwork submissions may include permanent pieces, or art-on-loan for three years. Selected artists must commit to a Professional Services Agreement with the City of Farmers Branch and provide required proof of insurance.

Deadline for Submissions: 11:59 pm CST March 1, 2023

Jury will make selections and inform artists by: May 1, 2023

Installation: Summer 2023

Exhibit Schedule: Art-on-loan will be displayed for three years from the installation date

Eligibility:

Artists must own all rights to the art. Artwork must be available for the duration of the three-year exhibition period. Artwork will be installed on a 6’x 6’ concrete pad and must arrive with steel tabs welded to the piece in locations that will provide overall stability to the base. Each tab must have a 9/16” diameter pre-drilled hole which will be used to bolt the piece to the pad

The exhibit is outdoors and open to the public. To accommodate those conditions, the art must meet certain requirements. Fragile pieces, and those judged to be dangerous, will not be accepted. Artwork must be constructed of durable materials that will withstand year-round Texas weather.

Public safety (i.e. pieces with no sharp edges, no points, no breakable or bendable components, no climbing hazards, etc.) should be taken into consideration. Artwork should be appropriate for family-friendly audiences and inevitable hands-on interaction.

Transportation:

Selected artists are responsible for transporting the artwork to and from the installation site. The artwork must be received as exhibition ready. The City of Farmers Branch will assist with installation of the work and will insure the art at market value for the duration of the exhibit. The value of the art must be substantiated by the artist.

Budget:

$60,000 for three pieces of work (up to $20,000/piece). Funds to be paid upon installation of artwork and full and final satisfaction of the Professional Services Agreement.

Submission Details:

Artists may submit up to five (5) sculptures for consideration. Each submission will be considered separately. Submissions will only be accepted via the Art Call submission website. Each submission must include the following:

  1. A bio/resume describing your experience and exhibition history.
